Clear and cold with a heavy frost on the meadows in Yosemite Valley this morning. All the waterfalls have frozen mist stuck to the walls. Yosemite Falls Creek, which runs out of Lower Yosemite Falls, was full of slush from the falling frozen mist.

  15. Get ready for the Yosmeite Dogwoods!

Today is somewhat cooler with a big cool down and possible showers forecast for the weekend. Yosemite Valley is not near as crowded as it was the last 3 weeks with all the spring breakers back in school. It was very pleasant in Yosemite Valley Yesterday with plenty of parking and no lines.

With the warmer weather Yosemite Valley is finally starting to green up and I spotted the 1st Dogwood blooming about 1 mile west of Yosemite Valley on Hwy 140. With the near record warm temperatures this Dogwood went from buds to flowers in just several days. The Yosemite Valley Dogwoods should be coming out with in the next couple of weeks.

It was very crowded in Yosemite Valley today. We encountered a traffic jam going into Yosemite Valley at around the 4 mile trail which is about 1 mile out from Yosemite Village. It was bumper to bumper with few parking places and cars parked everywhere. As we pulled into a parking lot we lucked out as someone was pulling out. Once on the trail we saw few folks and the noise from Yosemite Falls was overwhelming.
